There's just something about circle blocks in quilts. They always have a different kind of energy to them- an energy that suited the rich, vibrant colors of this collection of fabrics.
The wheels are pieced and then stitched to the background with machine applique- that means there aren't any curved seams to sew. There is a template but it's an easy one that you can make or buy. The wedges are joined and the edges turned under, then hand or machine stitched to the background squares. Those are made as blocks that are squared up, and then the quilt is assembled in straight rows. It's like rolling downhill!
